The ethanol supply will more than double in the next decade, from 4 billion gallons produced last year to 9.8 billion by 2015, estimates a new report by John Urbanchuk of consulting firm LECG.
Ethanol is quickly becoming the fuel additive of choice in the United States as a safer, cleaner-burning alternative to the petroleum-based MTBE (methyl tertiary-butyl ether), which has purportedly shown up as a contaminant in groundwater. |

Americans want Ethanol, new poll shows. A new poll conducted by The Winston Group shows that 85% of registered voters believe the government should be involved in the development of alternative fuels. Specifically, 84% believe incentives should be offered for the production of such fuels like ethanol.
The poll also found Americans understand the important economic benefits ethanol production provides. Nearly 9 in 10 voters believe a domestic ethanol industry creates jobs and benefits the economy as a whole. Read More |
